The proposal is for two semi-detached homes on a compact site in West Didsbury, Manchester. The architectural language is uncompromisingly modern yet takes design cues from the existing vernacular. The proposed material palette is purposefully minimal to provide a clean and modern aesthetic. The overriding material is brick, used in a variety of styles. The base is buff brick to anchor the proposal into its site and surroundings. A white GRC frame sits above to hold and frame the upper stories, which are clad in white brick with white bagged mortar to create a skin that is crafted and visually interesting.
