remodelling of an existing college campus, Stockport
Stockport College is a large town centre-based college campus consisting of a disparate group of underutilised buildings mostly dating back to the 1960's. Phase one of the project consists of remodelling works to Vernon Tower and the Vernon Centre and a new campus energy centre. The aim of phase one is to unify the existing buildings both visually and physically with a new translucent link between the two fully refurbished buildings. The Vernon Centre is stripped back to its original saw tooth steel structure and completely overhauled to create the new Arts Factory, a state of the art facility housing the creative arts under one roof. The roof allows for deep penetrating north light ideal for the arts.
